I just got a new graphics card, the msi radeon 7850 twinfrozr 3 2 gb OC edition..
its default clock is at 900 mhz, but with msi after burner i can make it 1050 mhz.

my PSU is the corsair cx430 watts.

my computer has an
amd a-10 5700 which tdp is 65w

3 sticks ddr3 ram

about 6 usbs connected

and the msi 7850, which i heard uses max 130w

if i over clock my gpu will i be
using too many watts? and if i am able to overclock. will it drastically lower the life of my gpu?

with the system equipped with
Intel Core i5-2500K (overclocked at 4.2GHz – 42 x 100MHz and 1.275V vcore; speedstep disabled)
Asus Maximus 5 Formula (Intel Z77)
2 x 4GB Corsair 1,600MHz DDR3 memory
Samsung SSD 830 256GB SSD

it's consume less than 200 watt..

well, based in that articles which is you can read here http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/graphics/2012/11/05/msi-radeon-hd-7850-1gb-review/9..

if you can keep it cool, and make sure your gpu has good quality watt input, then nothing have to worry.

My card is a reference 5850, overclocked to 1ghz gpu and 1250 at memory since out of box..
Cooled by Prolimatech mk-13 with good fans..and never exceed 48'c in stressed and gaming load.

And this card work flawlessly until this day..that's means almost 4 years..

Of course while you overclock your graphic card, it will consume more wattage compared with standard condition.

That's a pretty small PSU to be OCing a GPU with.
but..you also use a low-wattage APU..
I think it would be OK..even if you OC your CPU some..which you should..

do you have any idea HOW much more wattage would be consumed?

"Despite voltage adjustments not being possible with this card in Afterburner, we were still able to run the card at the program's core clock limit of 1,050MHz without problem, which is the same 22 per cent overclock we were able to achieve with the HD 7850 2GB. We were also able to increase the memory clock by 9 per cent to 1.31GHz (5.24GHz effective), before the card started to show artefacts. At these settings, the card increased our system's total power consumption under GPU load to 189W."

That's mean, with your 430 watt power supply, you still have plenty headroom for overclocking and other stuff..

so with my current build, i am able to overclock my GPU and get some more power out of it? without overstressing my PSU?

It's less than half load right..?
You can't call that with "stressing" your PSU..

Your psu will still relax and drink ice coffe while deliver power to whole your system..
