Get two 780 Ti. A third card will barely give you any better performance, probably give you more problems than benefit.

That's not how it works. Each card doesn't run individually, they have to be linked up into an SLI configuration. And games don't perform at 200% with two cards, what you get depends on the game. Some don't even use SLI and run as if there was only 1 card. And with a 3rd card you get even less potential benefit.

Hmm most good 1440p monitors cost beyond $500 each. For a triple monitor you want a thin bezel design which makes things harder.

Sorry, cant find any :p

I'd like to weigh in here. I have the setup you're looking at. 3 780 Ti's as well as 3 1440p monitors in surround SLI configuration. In BF4 im getting around 45-70 fps. fluctuating quite alot but with little to no stutter in the frames so its very playable. I have not tried this set up with 2 cards so I can not say what kind of performance you would see with that set up. Although if you are on a budget I would say start with 2 and add another if you have alot of stutter in your frames. as far as monitors go this is what I am using. Large bezel but ignorable. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA2RY...

edit: also you're gonna need a large PSU of around 1300 watts for these cards. they are power monsters if you overvolt and overclock.
