I built a new PC with drastically better components (i5 3570k, 8gb ddr3 hyperx 1600 ram, nvidia 650) but i kept the old HDD from my previous PC. The boot time for this new build is about 2 minutes. I am using windows 7 64bit

The old pc (windows xp, cpu - e7400 2.8 ghz, 2gb ddr2 800mhz ram) booted up in about 25 seconds.

I'm wondering why my new build boots up so slowly. Any insight would be appreciated :)

I did a fresh install of Windows 7 and installed all the necessary drivers (I THINK). I've also tried windows XP on the new build, but it has about the same boot time so it's probably a hardware thing.

Also, its worth mentioning that i have minimized the number of startup services and programs on my new build where as on the Old build I didnt touch the msconfig or service settings
