I have an Acer laptop with Windows 8. It seems that other computer have internet connection and my Acer laptop don't. I tried the "Turn off the power management" , "Type ipconfig/release then ipconfig/renew" and almost every way that is suggested by the internet and non have helped. I can't seem to have a default gateway and I can't even find my Local Area Connection. I've been working on to this problem since yesterday. I could understand how things work in the computer and wireless but I just don't get how this problem can't be solved. I tried to fix this with all my knowledge but it just won't work at all. Okay I'm going to give you the details.

Solution
The 169.254 address is not a issue it just means that you are not getting a IP from a DHCP server so microsoft assigns a dummy one....which you can use in some network configurations.

More than likely microsoft decided that their wireless driver was better and broke yours. I would reload the driver from the manufactures site...even if you get a warning it is older. When you take updates you need to be extremely careful if you choose to let it update anything related to the hardware.

When you meant by removing the wifi from device manager which should I remove ? From my network adapters , there are Microsoft Kernel Debug Network Adapter , Qualcomm Atheros AR5BWB222 Wireless Network Adapter and Realtek PCle GBE Family controller. Which of them should I remove ?

Im not sure im not in your system is this a laptop or desktop example .. go to network adapters in your device manager double click on it see whats there right click and uninstall but be sure you have drivers for that device before doing so on a disc or something...

Where exactly are you using this laptop.
Are you trying to use it at work, or at home on your own network through a router.

First of all the IPv4 address is not a standard. 169.254.139.197
Nor is the subnet mask of 255.255.0.0
The default gateway is also missing that is the router. No gateway no connection.
No DHCP to assign an ip address to a machine.
That means it has to be manual assigned or set as a static or private ip.

It suggests that due to the IP address it is part of a large Lan.
Or you have a repeater or an wireless range extender.

Simply use the computer that works, in the search box of windows type: Cmd

Then type: Ipconfig/all

Look at the settings for the computer that works on the network.

It should list the IP address range.
The sub net address
The gateway address

The Dhcp address.
