My parents have had their current computer for about 8 years now and it is finally dying. It has been ridiculously slow for as long as I can remember, so they want something which will be nice and speedy. I have been looking at buying something which is closer to high-end than mid-range so it will last (hopefully) an equally long time.
This computer will be used for general middle-aged computing, i.e. word-processing, answering emails, browsing the internet and playing good old Freecell.
Approximate Purchase Date: ASAP
Budget Range: AU$600-900
System Usage: Word processing, internet browsing, Freecell, Email checking
Are you buying a monitor: No
Do you need to buy OS: No
Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Umart.com.au would probably be preferred since they are the cheapest I can find (I can pick-up from them). But whatever is cheapest.
Location: Brisbane, Queensland, Australia
Parts Preferences: The Fractal Design Define Mini is a required part, mostly due to the fact that it is sexy. But other than that no preference really. Have been told to go for Intel CPU.
Overclocking: Nope
SLI or Crossfire: Nope
Your Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080
Additional Comments: Mostly just wondering if my build is suitable and if there is anything that people would suggest be changed or anything to possibly make it cheaper. Major question is if a video card is even required?
This is what I have so far:
