Hi there i have decided on buying an Intel Xeon E3 1230 V3 with a MSI B85-G43-Gaming mobo, Now i already have ram which is G.skill Sniper 8 gig kit 1866. The msi site for that board says it supports 1600 ram will i still be able to use my 1866 ram or will i have to replace it and will this ram be compatible with the xeon chip?

Solution
it does not need that, but it can use them, as far as I am concerned, but wait for a xeon experts answer just to make sure
ECC ram means Error Correction Code, and they are used in the working environment. They can correct some errors that occur, but it is only important at workstations

ok awesome seems like this will be a cheaper viable option then over an i5 i was going to buy.

The benchmarks i have seen are equal to a i7 4770 at the price of i5s just wanted to make sure my ram would work. Thankyou both so much for your help :)
