So I'm going to be getting a new CPU around Christmas time and I do not know very much about motherboard compatibility. I currently have a GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-S2 http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4311#ov and I need to know if it is compatible with a AMD FX-8350 and If it isn't then what the best processor I can get with this motherboard is, or if I should just upgrade my motherboard..? Thanks for the help.

Solution
According to the CPU support list of your motherboard,
you can't use FX-8350 :(
But you can go for FX-8100.
and i think that you should go for FX-6300 although it has 6 cores but it's clock speed is 3.5Ghz where the FX-8100's clock speed is just 2.8Ghz.
6 cores are fairly enough for everything.
FX-6300 would be a great choice.
and you'll need to update your BIOS.

I have no Idea how to update my BIOS, I know quite a bit about the hardware part of computers but I don't know stuff like that. Can you tell me how to do it, or direct me to an instructional video?

To update your bios , you should follow the instruction given by gigabyte on their website.
