Hello
I want to upgrade my Graphicscard from a Asus radeon hd 6700 to gtx 770.
I was wondering from which company I schould buy one. So far I was looking at the one from Gigabyte gtx 770 windforce 3x OC 4gb or the palit gtx 770 jet stream 4gb.

I would like to have 4gb because I am most likely getting more monitors.

I know evega is popular too. Any other suggestions would also be nice. Btw would it be really necessary to upgrade my CPU (I have i5 2500k).
Thanks a lot for any help or response !

I would go for the Windforce one over the Jet Stream. Your do not have to upgrade your CPU as it will not bottleneck anything. Including your system specs would be great too :)

Thanks for replying!
these are some of my System stats:

Mainboard: Intel® Desktop Board DP67BA
CPU: Intel i5 2500K
RAM: 2x Kingston KVR1333D3N9/4G
Graphicscard: Asus Radeon HD 6700
CPU cooler: Arctic cooling Freezer 13 pro
PC case: raidmax Super Aeolus (All fans replaced with Antec fans)
and what I'm more worried about... Powersupply: GX 550W

The GX 550 is fine for the card. Just do not expect extreme overclocking. Your case's airflow should be good too in order for the windforce card to benefit from it.

im also going to buy a new vga prob gtx 780 ti, i was doing lots of research about different brand like EVGA, ASUS, Gigabyte, zotac, i suggest you go for this model EVGA GeForce GTX 770 4GB Dual Classified w/ EVGA ACX Cooler, it really worth the money at least to what reviews says the ACX cooling blades, and heat sink design is 20 % better than normal one i compare some important factors for you, both for EVGA and gigabyte so you can decide which one to buy,

EVGA
1150 MHz GPU

Gigabyte
BASE:1137MHz / BOOST:1189 MHz

both of these cards suggested 600 w power but ??? id say not rly anyway this is your safest friend for now :)  check this site you can see what power do you really need, just fill in the information and you are good to go :)

Btw ur CPU is fine if you have HDD try get a ssd cause it brings huge improvement.

I'd look into the MSI offers. Never been a big fan of them, but honestly, I'm starting to change my mind. Since I got into PC specs I've always been an Asus or EVGA fanboy :p  But MSI offers some great cooling and really good prices.

I really think you should check it out. N770-Lightning - google it =]

When I was thinking GTX 770, the EVGA SC ACX was the one to pick, followed closely by the Gigabyte.
However, I`ll end up buying the R9 280x Toxic from Sapphire.

The GTX 770 will not bottleneck your i5. This all depends on scenarios, if you are going to do some heavy gaming, I would suggest Gigabyte because of its custom patented fans. You are more mainstream and only do video editing, and high resolution renders, choose Palit.

Hope this helps!

Just be cautious of EVGA's cooling system. I have never been happy with their heatsinks and they always run hotter than other brands, get the MSI if you want a well cooled and quiet card.

Your cpu is fine if you can clock it up to 4.0 :D

As far as gpu's go, the evga 770's are fast, but have a bit of a price premium. Asus is the same way, both are about the best companies on the nvidia side.

If you did want to venture into the red side, the r9-290 would be a great choice once aftermarket coolers come out (stock ones are garbage) And the 280x is great for the price with one of the aftermarket solutions.

As far as the video memory, the 3 gig options are the sweet spot as no game will use that much at 1080p right now while games like crysis or a fully modded skyrim can use up to and just over the 2gigs of vram.

I am new to this specific site but i do a lot of research for a buddy who does reviews whenever he can't get around to it. I'm putting this specific response in list form to help with ease of communication :) . Hope it helped!

Sorry i didn't see this message before i posted, but your 550w should be fine unless it's a really crappy brand with a falsified 80+ bronze rating. Otherwise you wouldnt really stress it out unless you ran prime and furmark (both powerhungry benchmarks for cpu and gpu respectively) at the same time. according to most power supply reviews, if you have the 80+ bronze rating, you would actually be running your psu at it's optimal usage (80%) under load (you won't ever hit that unless you are doing hardcore benchmarking and stability testing. Your cpu cooler should also allow for a 4.0 overclock if you do your research and find a low enough stable core voltage :)

Hi TNTastrophe,

As with the above comments your system is pretty well rounded, I would consider getting a bigger power supply though. The Corsair CX-750w is cheap and really quite nice. It's semi-modular too, it will also mean you will not have any problems with adding more HDD's and GPU's in your great quest for the best Gaming Machine out there.

Personally, I would choose MSI as it doesn't look like a complete ugly beast like you might find with others and it's cooling is very nice. If you want a bit more style and umph (and to be honest its not too much umph) go the Gigabyte Phantom GTX 770. Again it comes down to a number of personal choices.

Hope this helps,
Liberatas

If you're feeling daring, or maybe patient, I would wait for amd's new mantle.

Based on it's claims, it could turn a 7970 into a 780 killer or 290x into a 780 ti killer (In games that have mantle, which are all frostbite 3 games by EA, including battlefield 4)

But remember these are claims, and have been delayed once. So no promises, but hey, if it turns out to be true, then why not wait until it comes out and then make a decision?

But it's all up to you.
More on topic, I have only heard great things about the gigabyte windforce. I would say go for that if you prefer nvidia's shadowplay and cuda to amd's mantle.

Mantle has very few supported games (for now only, I hope) But speaking about waiting for new tech, Nvidia hopefully can pull out Maxwell.

If you want more then one monitor, your better off with a gtx 650/660 with SLI.
