More about gigs ram
  1. This could happen if the ram is not fitted properly in your motherboard. Open the side panel of your computer case, and with your both hands push the both sides of ram. You can see the side clutches perfectly fitted with the ram. If not, then press the both side of ram equally and that should fix it.

I have already went into my computer and tried every ram slot and it is not a dead stick of ram.
  3. If the DRAM is 2x4GB then that can be the problem, if it's a 32bit OS then that may be it, 32bit only supports up to 4GB

I agree to you sir!, but shouldn't it at least show the ram as 8 gb and use only 4 gb. I mean, no matter the os, it should show the correct specs.
And i think I am seeing this link showing 64-bit Os : http://imgur.com/9r6PnnB

Your mobo only works w/ 8GB total in a 4x2GB - it only sees 2 GB per slot
  7. i had the exact same problem with the missing ram and my brother managed to fix it, one of the slots on the mobo were not working so he just swapped the sticks until he found out the faulty one and now its all fine.
