Instead of a R9 270X, get a GTX 760. This one is $236.99 with free shipping from Amazon. Here is why.

Why are you comparing cards that have almost a $40 price difference? That might not be much when you're talking about a $500 card vs. a $540 card, but it's prety big when its $200 and $237.

If you can afford a 760, get a 670 instead. There is no reason to buy a 760 right now. The 670 is almost the same price and is a considerably faster card. Nvidia is actually going to rebrand the 670 as the "760 Ti", and is planning on selling it for more money than the 670 is going for now, even though it's the same dang card. Imho grab a 670 now while they're still around.

The main reason i wanted a 270x was because of bf4 optimisation and mantle. also in the uk the 760 ist £50 ($80) more than a 270x.

same gpu... half the price

the 270x/760/770/280x are all absolutely bad buys and have completely lost their value when amd is pricing their 7xxx cards they way they have been. its a flat out win for all of us though. with 7970ghz cards selling for darn near what a 270x is new... its not even arguable or debatable.

Quilciri, this is on sale now at £162 (with 2 free games).

So this is better than the 760 and the 270x?

The OP is not in the U.S.

In the U.K., the cheapest 7970 is £259, while a 670 is £192 after VAT . The 270x is a good value there @ £145.

The 7970 is the fastest card, slightly ahead of the 670. However the 7970 is not worth the extra £60 at all. The 670 is faster than everything else.

Also, as per your original criteria, that MSI 670 is 9.53" long.

in the uk the 7870 s and 270x s are almost the same price £140-£145 but there is a larger selection of 270x s as these are the only 7870 s from etailers i would use

http://www.scan.co.uk/products/2gb-xfx-radeon-hd-7870-d...

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX...

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX...

so I thought that it would be better to get the rebrand as there is more selection
