I feel like my CPU (i5 3470) is struggling to handle relatively simple tasks, and also scoring a lot lower in benchmarks than similar or the same CPU is. Is there a way I can find out of there is an issue with my particular processor?

make sure your motherboard bios is up to date and ram set to xmp profile. check with cpu-z ram running in two channel mode not one channel mode. a lot time people put the ram into the first two ram slots and there not the right slots to get the mb to run in two channel mode. use cpu-z read the gpu info make sure it running right. on the ssd and hard drives make sure there on the intel 6g port and it set to achi mode. use hd tune to see if the drivers and your drives running at the right speed. download intel chipset update and intel mei drivers and newest intel irst driver. make sure your vidoe cable on the gpu and not on the mb video port. make sure the gpu card drivers are installed and it the first video boot device.

the 1333 ram is slower then most users now using 1600 or faster ram. your biggest killer of your rig is lack of ram. your only running one dimm at 1333. (four gigs) the os and what ever you have loaded at start up going to eat up most of your free ram. use msconfig turn every thing off in start up but your anti virus. run malware and hitman pro scan to make sure your rig is clean and run a defrag. I try and pick up another ram dimm it the cheapest upgrade right now for your rig. pick up another 4g dimm of the same part.

if you only have one stick of ram it is not running in dual channel mode. You need two sticks to do that. Dual = 2

I have to say I feel ripped off, the 'Corsair' Value Select' at 1333mhz is the identical price to their better quality corsair vengence at 1600mhz. But of course I can't send it back without a reason.
