So i will be upgrading to either a 4930k or 4770k through retail edge, the price of the CPU doesn't matter, but the MOBO price does. How do they compare to each other for rendering in AE, is it worth it to get the 4930k, Its a pretty serious hobby and I do freelance.

See this comparison chart: http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/cpu-charts-2013/-35-Adobe-After-Effects-CS6,3170.html

It doesn't have the 4930k but you can substitute in the 3930k for it since they perform similarly. It seems adding two extra cores doesn't have much effect on AE performance. In fact the slower clock speeds on the 3930k and 3960x actually seem to hurt it compared to the 3770k and 4770k.

On the other hand if you are doing work with Premiere Pro the hex-cores do outperform quad-cores by about 10-15%: http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/cpu-charts-2013/-34-Adobe-Premiere-Pro-CS6,3171.html

Bottom line: if you are just using AE then I would go for the 4770k for the cheaper price since upgrading to six cores doesn't really seem to help.
