Hi Guys,

I'm about to purchase some new parts for my computer. However given the budget im having trouble making the right choice for a gaming pc (mainly BF4). Currently im thinking about the following combo's:

Setup 1:
CPU AMD FX-8350
GPU GTX 760

vs.

Setup 2:
CPU AMD FX-8350
GPU R9 270x

vs.

Setup 3:
CPU AMD FX-8320
GPU: R9 280x

Setup 4:
CPU AMD FX-6350
GPU: R9 280x

From what I've heard BF4 requires a strong CPU, this is the main reason im considering the 8350 with a weaker GPU (setup 1 or 2). However according to some 600-800 USD gaming computer setups the AMD FX 6300 CPU is chosen quite often. Personally i'm afraid a 6300 will bottleneck a GPU such as the R9 280x and def. eats battlefield 4 FPS since its kinda weak compared to the AMD 8-series CPU's. Last but not least the mantle patch for BF4 is incoming and im not sure what to expect from it (prob a 10% fps increase?).

Please help me with this dilemma. If you have an even better idea/setup please let me know :) !

Thanks in advance.

PS: I'm not planning on going for a sli / xfire setup / overclocking

I'd go with setup 3. The 8320 is almost as strong as the 8350 in gaming, and has the strongest of the three GPUs you listed.

Yup, setup 3, many budget builders go with the 6300 to cut back on costs and be able to afford a more expensive GPU. If you can afford both an 8320 an a 280x go for that.

As for mantle nobody really knows. I have a 7970, I get around 60 FPS on ultra. I am expecting that number to not decrease and to remain stable.

Sounds good however, benchmarks show that theres no difference between a 6350 and a 8350 for games (except maybe Skyrim which is heavily based on a CPU.. but then again the diff is max 10 fps).

Still one thing remains unclear to me: Isnt the AMD FX-6350 superior to the AMD FX-8320 given the higher default clock frequency as most games arent able to use all cores?

Thanks again for your input :) .

I cant say for sure, graphics cards get benchmarked all the time but CPUs dont (atleast not for gaming) the most recent article I read that benched CPUs was actually for BF4 and the 8320 was superior because BF4 can take advantage of all 8 Cores. I'll see if I can find that.
