So my current setup is internet cable -> switch then it splits into 2 lines, one goes to the PC the other one goes to the phone(the phone has a box with wan port, a lan port and one that goes to the phone through a regular phone cable).
I do not have a modem, i simply connect to the cable that comes inside the house. I want to know if i can put a wireless router between the switch and the computer ? And if it works, i want to know how to set it up ? Mind you, i cannot put the wireless router before the switch because then the phone won't work, or at least that is what i have been told.
It's messd up, i know. I could in theory put the internet cable into the phone's box and then put the wireless router between that and the pc, but then the phone's box is limmiting my download speed by half.
I could use the help because i want to set it up without calling the internet provider(that will most likely get me a massive headache)

I presume you’re in some sort of apartment complex that’s providing internet service via an ethernet outlet.

All you have to do is connect your router’s WAN to the wall outlet. In most cases, there’s no problem placing the VOIP adapter/router BEHIND your own router. Most VOIP providers insist you place it FIRST because they want to insure the phone always has highest priority. But unless you have a VERY congested network and use VOIP heavily, it’s rarely an issue. They tell you to make it first in the off chance that 1 in 100 ppl who do have a problem don’t call and complain. IOW, it’s for THEIR benefit, not YOURS! And even if you had priority issues, many routers can prioritize VOIP w/ QoS, BEHIND your own router.

I would at least try it, see what happens. I suppose you *might* run into a double NAT problem if VOIP is bound only to the WAN and that *may* be why they warned against it. But if it’s not, and it’s available on its LAN interface as well, you could convert the VOIP router to an AP and patch to your own router, LAN to LAN.
