Hi,

currently my spec
i7 920
dfi lanpart ut x58-T3eH8
4 x1 gb corsair ram
Saphhire HD4850 1gb
1 seggate & 1 WD hdd
cooler master 650 watt psu...
and few old gpu cards (ati x800, x850 & x1050)
all are stock running no OC.. Windows 8.1

The problem i am having is random reboot, no prompt no error just simply restart even at idle, as of somebody had snatch out the AC plug and the cycle repeat. I did a lot of research online, and what i found that few components like psu, mobo, ram or gpu could be faulty. Someone said to do fresh install, i did that. I checked every component, and i am listings the results..

MOBO

I took it out, checked for any faulty/blown caps.. they are fine.

Ram

I did checked with new ones, and even mines are working fine on other system. I did memtest86 no error there.

Graphics

I got few older gpus, so i tested with them.. still no luck.
I am pretty sure my gpu aren't overheated...

Power Supply

I am little doubtful on this, as i did check psu rail voltage on bios, guess they are ok
+3.3v is +3.25, +5 v is 4.67 and +12v is 11.76 almost same on OCCT also.
A bit strange thing happen is whenever i am at bios or some windows install prompt (after cd boot). it does not reboot for hour. I left it for 8 hours.

I haven't checked it with other PSU,as i didn't have spare one. Could be my psu is faulty, should i get a new one ?
is 500 watt psu will be enough for me !!

Kindly guide me....

Have you installed all the motherboard drivers? (in case there is a low level power driver issue)
If you have, I would guess PSU then Motherboard.

driver !!! I did install those, but no luck
anyways, i was planning to replace psu..

my question is that "whether 550 watt psu is enough for my i7 920 ?".. For my knowledge i7 920 draws itself 135 watt, over that there ati hd4850 gpu...whereas newer generation i7 draws 125watt or less..

should i go for 550 or more power ones..?? Right now mine is 650 and is more than 4 year old..

and Seasonic OEM (XFX, Arctic or seasonic) 550W one will be more than enough :)

hi guys
issue has been solved...
it turned out to be dust & moisture on back side of the mobo, which i guess was short with cabinet ground.. later i tried breadbording and it was fine..
every component are working fine ...

Lastly thanks for your support.
