My windows xp PC was not fully booting up and was going in to troubleshooting mode. I tried enabling safe mode , system restore and all the other options so many times but it still failed. So in a space of 20 mintues the PC booted up like 20 times.
I unplugged the computer and after a few hours re plugged it and tried booting again but it failed. It was'nt even going on , so I fiddled some wires from the back and suddenly the psu exploded and smoke started coming out.
I'm wondering if I need to buy a new psu or do I have to buy a new computer ?

If it does not boot anymore then you should buy a really cheap psu on amazon just to see if it works if it does not then you know that the components were taken out by the psu if it does then you would buy a good psu so it does not explode again :p

Cheap one : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Good one:

NOTE: Its VERY important that if the pc boots you should change the pus to the good one since the cheap one could short out/blow components since they are not high quality
or
you could just buy the good one and test it and use it if it works and if it does not then build a new system around it.
I can help if you want to build a new system also just ask me ;)
