I was looking at purchasing an Asus R9 280X Matrix for a new computer I'll be buying in the next month or so, but a lot of user reviews on sites like Newegg are accusing it of being unreliable or buggy (artifacting issues, etc). Scary acronyms like DOA and RMA are getting thrown around a fair bit.

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone could comment on this issue - specifically, I was wondering if the problems that are being reported are the result of a poor card or just users screwing around with the OCing features.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Solution
should be fine, nearly as expensive as an r290 here, waste of money imo for minimal performance gain over other 280x's. maybe different pricing in your part of the world.

Have worked with two and seen no problems, have seen and read of folks getting the 280X cards and having a variety of problems which often leads to an underpowered PSU, I recommend at least a good 550 with 30AMPs or more on the 12 volt rail(s)...many that you see listed at 550 are showing the peak wattage opposed to continuous
