Why is XFX R9 280X power requirement different from other manufacturer (Asus, Gigabyte, MSI etc.)?

I look up different manufacturer's version of R9 280X. XFX's version says you need 500w at minimum to run the card. While other manufacturer's such as MSI or Gigabyte and so on says you need 750w. Why is that so?

Solution
Below is a power consumption chart for peak power usage of the MSI RX 280x which has a mild overclock above reference by 50MHz. It shows that the power consumption is 203w. A good quality 500w PSU should be able to handle that along with either a stock speed Intel or AMD CPU. Intel is generally preferable since they use less power than AMD CPUs. I would also assume most people do not have more than 2 hard drives and 1 optical drive. So that should not be a burden at all. For the record I have 6 hard drives and 2 optical drives in my primary rig.

Since XFX's PSUs are manufactured by Seasonic, a 500w XFX PSU will have no problems running the R9 280x.

Naturally, overclocked R9 280x GPUs will use more power than stock speed R9 280x GPUs...

I don't remember Gigabyte or MSI having a hand in the PSU market, and if they do, then the most likely reason to your question is that they're not as good as XFX at it. plus, it helps to promote their PSUs in a way, i guess, by tactfully implying to the customer that "you don't need to overspend on a PSU for this, so come take a look at our lineup since you're getting an XFX GPU as well". maybe.

and if you're wondering; yes, you can run a 280X with a 500W PSU, provided you don't have a whole lot running (8x WD Blacks, half a dozen fans, etc.) though, personally, i'd recommend adding another 50-100W just to be safe. most GPU manufacturers, even ASUS, tend to over calculate the amount. i wouldn't trust them. to see one recommending something more reasonable like XFX is personally rare for me.

only time you need 750W is if you CF 2 of them.

Sry for such a "Hard" answer....but...reading helps.....sometimes

btw: i guess why all manufacturer's say u need min.750 W... is an easy answer..not all PC Builder, using HQ PSU´s...so if it run with a 500W HQ PSU, it will run on a Cheap LQ 700 W PSU also :bounce:
But this is only MY opinion !!!!!!!!!!!!!
