I plugged in my WD 3 tb external into my computer yesterday and immediatly knew that something was wrong. i did not get an instant pop up asking my to access my drives. I checked in My Computer and they were not visable there as well, though MyBook was visable on Safely Remove Hardware. I checked Disk Management which immediatly asked me to choose either MBR or GPT which I checked MBR. My external was visable but only 746.53 gb of unallocated space on it. The last 2 days I have attempted a veriety of methods to access my data on the external including Find and Mount, Linux Rescue Disk, and WD Tools, all to no avail. I need to get off roughly 40 gb of pictures I have on the external of my kids and have not been able to find a way as of yet. If anyone has any idea that might help my situation please let me know as I would be greatly appretiative. The only information that I received from using those programs was that yes there is 3000 gb available, and when running the WD Tools the Extended Test was not able to be completed as there was too many corrupted blocks. I am running Windows 7 if that helps at all. Thank you so much for any help you can give me!

The first mistake you have done was to select the MBR. With HDD larger than 2.2TB you must select the GPT partition. Anyways try this tool :
