recommend me a mobo for my build please!

I'm looking for a motherboard to finish my build. I plan on overclocking and playing games with it.

Also, I'd like to try and cut the budget back to 800, where should I make cuts?
* I'm planning on selling the 3 games that come with the card to help out some. (thinking I'll get at least $50)

You could buy a HD 7970 instead. It has similar performance to the GTX 770, bt cheaper. It consumes more power though.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

    Motherboard: ASRock Z87 Extreme4 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($117.99 @ Newegg)
Video Card: PowerColor Radeon HD 7970 3GB Video Card ($259.99 @ Newegg)
    Total: $377.98
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

  4. Thanks for the input. That is a motherboard I have considered, I was just hoping something cheaper would work.

As for the video card, I'm not sure I trust Powercolor as a brand, and that particular card has a fair amount of negative feedback on newegg. I have considered buying a r9 280x though. I just thought the extra gig on the 770 would help future proof the system.
  5. anyone else have some thoughts? Especially on which mobo and why
  6. The R9 280x is a rebranded HD 7970. But the HD 7970 comes with free games.
  7. If you buy the i5-4670K and Asrock Z87 Extreme 4 together at Microcenter, it costs $290 . There's a deal.
  8. yeah but in store pickup only :( I suppose I'll either pony up the extra $50 or get the 280x (which comes with battlefield 4)
