Hi

I am setting up an movie theater system and i would like to get some help choosing the components.

I am looking at a m-ATX MB and HTPC case. I would be playing only 1080p movies and future 4k movies.

What CPU, Graphics and memory should i bee looking at?

Will be connecting the PC to an YAMAHA or ONKYO receiver, 7.2, and the receiver will connect to projector and 2 x LCD (1 TV and 1 small monitor).

¤ Should i be looking at integrated graphics or a card?
¤ Is it enough with dual CPU or should i have 4,6, 8 cores?
¤ What memory size should i bee looking at and does it matter if it is 2 rot 4 modules?

Will be using probably Windows 7 Pro 64k

ok, thank you for reading !
Cheers!

For later 4K video playback I would look into one of the new AMD r9 290x cards I do not think integrated GPU would be able to handle that.

For the CPU I would still get a i5 3570 non K since I do not think you would need to OC it.

As for memory 2x 4gig should be enough. 8gig is enough for a gaming rig so it should be just fine for what you want.

As far as your receiver I can tell you my rig although a gaming rig I also play all of my Blu-Ray rips though it also. I run it though my Insignia 5.1 receiver, made by Onkyo, then to my Panasonic 50" Plasma 3D and it works great including full DTS-MA and DD TrueHD out.

If this is purely a media setup, I would highly recommend XMBC or a similar Linux distro specialised for this exact purpose.
We will probably see a major hardware architecture change for 4K, so any rig built now will not be the most efficient in the near future, but by investing in a decent GPU it will at least work. An R9 280x might be overkill
