My pc needs 450watts psu
So if i use 550w psu
Will there be any Problem.
Is there a benefit in using 550w psu for my gaming old pc

My PC Specifications
CPU E5200 2.5ghz
4Gb ram
Graphics Card Amd/Ati HD6670 2Gb
Windows 7 64bits

Your computer components will only draw as much power as they need. You could use a 1000W psu, and it would be ok. That being said, there is no benefit to using a higher watt psu, except that you are more 'future proof' for upgrades.

Even if you put a 1600W PSU in there, like mine, there won't be any problems (as far as your box is capable to fit it)! You should be worried, if your PSU is below what your PC requires, not when it supplies it with even more wattage than it needs.

there is no problem about getting higher wattage psu ,buying a higher wattage psu is best ,this is what you called overkilling,because you can extend or add more components in the future ,if you have a higher wattage psu and if you buy for example 1000w psu ,not all 1000watts will be consumed on your electricity, only your pc needs will be consumed
