So after replacing my old graphics card with a new xfx 7970, the pc appears to be stuck in a boot loop. Tried with a bigger power supply and putting in old card but still no change. Mobo lights up and fans spin for about 2 seconds but it shuts down and it continues doing this. Have taken everything off mobo and still no change.

Have a gigabyte ga p55a ud3 board and have read there has been issues with these boards. Probably needs an upgrade but before I spend some money was just wondering if anyone had the same issue and knows a cheaper fix?

do you have a motherboard speaker ? that beeps when you boot up the PC that will allow you to fiqure out what is wrong , ie 4 beeps means memory timing is not right. best way to fix this is

1) remove the video card and replace it back with the old one or use the integrated if that is a option.
if it fires up perfectly you could have a bad gfx card or not enough wattage to power it .

without the beeps it would be hard to diagnosis this fully .

No beeps, have tried the old graphics card back in as listed above but to no avail. Power supply is is large enough to supply sufficient wattage.

usually a 3sec boot loop has to do with the processor not accessing the memory correctly , just out of curiosity did you removed the cpu at any time ?
if so check the cpu socket for any bent pens or remove all but 1 stick of ram and try that i believe something threw your ram timing out of whack .

hope you get it back up and running man !

Nar cpu wasn't touched. Tried with every different possible combination of ram as well, Looks like we are all out of ideas, might have to go to the shop. Cheers mate

You might be plugging in the wrong pin connectors to the new GPU. I remember I had the exact same problem when installing a new GPU for the first time, and realized I was actually plugging a 4 pin connector in to a 6 pin slot without realizing it. That might be the problem

Nar pins are fine, that wouldn't effect it when going back to old card. Pretty sure its a mobo issue now
