Asrock 939 Dual Sata2 - Not picking up Keyboard - Cannot access BIOS

Hello guys,

I have an old Asrock 939 Dual Sata2 motherboard (and have all the components), so decided to build the machine. So i plug everything in and turn it on, and the keyboard doesn’t seem to work.

So i took the wireless one out an tried a wired USB one, still no luck. It says Keyboard Interface Error.

So I thought let me try a PS2 keyboard, still no luck.

The HDD doesn’t have an OS on, so I can’t even test it in Windows

Sometimes I do get short beeps. 2 beeps with a gap then 6 beeps (Like now, and the monitor isn’t coming on) then other times, there are no beeps and its comes on.

It’s got a graphics card, sound card and wireless card in

Any suggestions?

  1. I'll suggest replacing the CMOS battery on the motherboard or at least checking it is at 3v since it going bad can cause strange behaviors
