Hey guys!

So a few months ago I started blocking my younger brother from using YouTube so much, since it was eating up all my downstream. I'd remove it from time to time so he didn't realize something wrong was happening.

A few days ago I found my net lagging a lot and when I check his room I see YouTube opened up in Chrome. I was like wtf....

I checked his history and it seems like he searched for something like "youtube doesn't work on my pc" and he probably found something in a gamers forum and by-passed it. I really have no clue how. My best guess would be a proxy since he knows shat about networking and he bypassed it. Intriguing situation right here.

Right now I have the URL Filter enabled on my router and I cannot access http://www.youtube.com but, after typing it in his PC it works.

Any ideas out there? I'd like to lock him out of YT for a while more.

*EDIT:
router: TP-Link TD-W8960N

Solution
Then upgrade the firmware. The patch notes on the files say they put it in on 6/20/2011. I would suspect v4 and v5 of the routers have it by default
The router you list is a tp-link not linksys. That router has the ability to traffic rate limits. Put his ip in a group and limit that group to a fixed in and out bandwidth. So if say you have 1m up and 10m down you could limit his bandwidth to say 300k up and 3m down. This would leave the rest for you. It then does not matter what site is causing the problems this prevents it to a point.

Yeah TP-Link. Thanks. Really don't know where the heck I came with that from. lol

I've read the manual a couple of times to try to limit his bandwidth but, when it comes to the actual router setup through .1.1 I can't understand some of the things on there. Not actually user friendly. From what I understood, I need to enable the damn QoS to use the bandwidth feature.

I'll get a screen on the page later.

Problem is there is no Traffic Control category under Advanced Setup, neither down any other category. I'm guessing that one is related to a different updated version of the TD-W8960N
