Hi! Currently my Gigabyte R9 280x sounds like a vacuum cleaner while playing games.
It seems I need to update my bios.

If I go to display properties, it tells me the bios version is: 113-C3865000-X01 (no "F" in here?)
The gigabyte website warns me that F1 supports F2-F9 update, F10 supports F11-F19 etc.

Also I have OC Guru installed, in the installation folder there is a ATIWinflash, as I read around the web this utility will automatically install the right Bios version? But some people had problems after the update... if this happens should I just find a switch on the videocard inside my rig?

I am bios parallel so I'd be happy to get some info/instructions before doing this, I'd rather not risk.

Thank you!

Use @Bios from gigabyte or GPU-Z to determine your bios version.
Yours is probably F31(not sure, check it), so no new bios yet.
Updated versions goes like this:
F1-Fx
F11-F1x
F31-F3x
Don't flash other versions, may cause problems.
To lower your fan noise use OC Guru2 custom Fan profile and use the best fan speed/temp ratio for your system.

hi! Yes it is F3 so I will wait, i hope there will be an update. I cutrently play battlefield3 and metro last light, both games have problems if i keep ocguru opened. The custom fan profile is good idea but I do not know wich is the recommended temp limit for the videocard so I'd rather have a noisy one, not a fried one :)  the auto keeps it between 60-65 degrees. In time probably I will find the perfect custom profile if gigabyte won't release an update.

Have you updated your bios yet? If not go to this page and download F12 works with both revision 1 and 2

Also this is the best tool I have found to flash it with. Easy as pie. Unzip the bios file and put it into the winflash folder. Load the file. Then hit the start button. Winflash will convert it, then install the rom.

I was having issues with my Gigabye R9 280 OC rev. 2.0. I was having artifact problems on a daily basis. Even with the new AMD driver 13.12. This bios cleared them right up. the main thing I noticed was it raised the voltage from 1.171 to 1.219. Also it lowered the default fan speed. the really did not matter though as when I game I put the fan speed to 80%. The cooler the better.

As a side note you may want to save your current bios rom. You can do this with gpuz. Click button right side of bios version to do that.
