Hello, I'll be using this board for my new build along with an E5-2687W which is based on sandy bridge-ep and wanted to know more about the following claims:

"an E-ATX gaming motherboard designed to unleash the full power of Intel® LGA 2011 Core™ i7 (Ivy Bridge-E) processors."

Is there anything i'd be missing out on by not going with an ivy bridge-e E5-2687 v2?

It's just a feature which they have listed.Since ivb-e is the latest in the x79 socket it is mentioned as utilizing its full power. Now whether you will get an over the top performance from this board compared to other boards on the basis of this tagline then the answer is no .

Because the memory controller of ivy-E is capable of higher DRAM ratios than earlier gen CPUs... The new layout helps wring out higher frequency from the platform. The Extreme boards target the "extreme" userbase that push their systems as far as possible ;)

This will probably be over your head, but we did some optimization of the DQ signal layout for this board over the previous gen:) Length matching, impedance (different gens have different preferences) all play a part in overclocking a platform.

So it's related to memory then. I did notice the board supported 2800mhz o.c. i'll be running 32gb of 2400mhz DDR3 CL10 quad channel Corsair Vengeance CMZ32GX3M4A2400C10 with a SB-EP E5-2687w cpu.

Will I be able to hit 2800 with this setup or at least max out the full abilities of this ram kit?

That just leaves more questions than answers. As stated my CPU is a Xeon E5-2687w, can someone tell me what this CPU can support by default and more importantly what it can handle stable on average if unlocked in bios using this Rampage board? It was my understanding that the bios/mobo was more responsible for this but at the moment I just want the peace of my mind that my build this weekend will go smoothly and how much o.c. room I have to play with in the long run.

It seems these boards are currently out of stock everywhere. Are there plans to get them to the vendors before Christmas?

Yeah look for it tomorrow! The release was set to coincide with the game something Black Flag (the game that comes with it) which is Tuesday. Asus has already outed it and I believe retailers are just waiting on their permission to list it.
