GTX 460 lag at 40% load

Hello man

Hi. I just got a refurbished GTX 460 756mb card. For some reason, my card load is 40% (according to gpu-z), but the FTB modpack for Minecraft is lagging out like crazy, getting about 6fps. My MC frame rate setting is on max, and I can only get 20fps if I lower the render distance to the lowest possible. Any one have an idea?

Yeah but you only have 2GB of RAM, your operating system will use up roughly 1GB or more doing nothing. This leaves very little room for your game. Your RAM and CPU are giving you cruddy performance, doesn't matter how much you over clock the components you have it's just not enough.

I would start there, but also post the rest of your system specs. One thing that I always advice when an issue like this occurs is no monitor not only your CPU and CPU usage but the clock rate. Sometime your CPU or GPU will lower their clock rate into a power saving mode when you do not want it to that can create these types of issues.

I'm not surprised with your performance, your CPU but mainly your RAM is holding you back big time.

Because DDR2 is no longer in productions it's very expensive and not worth buying. My advice would be to save up for a new cpu, motherboard, and RAM.

My memory is overclocked to 1200mhz though, and my FSB to 1600mhz. My pci express frequency is at max, riunning at 150 I'm not sure whats. I've also upped the chipset speed and voltage for all components, so my earlier stats were not the most correct.
