x86 on 64 bit disc

So I was just curious, I was installing 64 bit windows 8 on my home desktop and I was prompted to choose x86 or x64, and it made me wonder, hence this question, what would happen if I chose x86 off of the 64 bit disc?

Okay.
x86 = 32bit OS and
x64 = 64bit OS.
I know it sounds wiered but this is the way they specifies their OS's version

I was wondering specifically if it would be any different than choosing x86 on a 32 bit disc

I have to question the legality of this copy of Windows. Retail and OEM disks purchased at B&M stores only come with 32 or 64 bit on a single disk, not both. Where did you get this?

I should clarify it was a win8 pro upgrade disc, I bought it for $70 dollars during a promotion when 8 launched
