I want to upgrade to a new HDD. Do I need to uninstall windows 7 from my old HDD so I can install it to my new drive?

Also, its my first time upgrading to a new drive, can you guys give me the basic steps to do so?

Solution
Hello... if your going to make it your new BOOt drive, best results is a re-install Windows on it without the old one plugged in... connect and make active your old drive, to get important data off of it... if you want to wipe it clean later, just delete the partitions on it, and create a new partition, and quick format it.

So I can put my old drive away and just install windows on my new drive? That's pretty easy. :p

Also, I don't know which type of hard drive to buy. My motherboard is a MSI 785GTM-E45.

On newegg, I searched for my motherboard and it says sata 3 gb/s.
