New Laptop need to be very close to router to pick up any signal unlike several earlier laptops and other devices. Had same problem trying to connect with different router at another house where all other devices were getting strong signal. Laptop has Windows 8.1 and it's Atheros wifi driver was last modified on 29.8.2013. Packard Bell web site showed 2 possible Wireless LAN drivers, one by Atheros and one by Broadcom. Should I download neither, or one of, or both?
New Packard Bell laptop gets weak Wifi signal at home. Sometimes it will not connect at all.

I tried to take it back but they got a connection to the wifi in the shop so refused to refund or exchange as they said they could not see the fault. I told them |I could get a connection, but could not hold it anywhere in my house beyond the study where the router was situated. That cut no ice with them
