My Seagate expansion is not that old yet, maybe i've just used only for some few months but now it is not getting detect to my laptop/desktop anymore... What might be the problem?? Is there anyone who has got the same problem?? How can get back my files from the drive?

It may have failed (bad news) or it may simply be the SATA-to-USB bridge chip (a small circuit board in the enclosure) that s faulty.

If it's the former, data can only be recovered by a data recovery specialist. If it's the latter, you can remove the actual drive and put it into a third-party enclosure, then there's a good chance it will work.

Loss of data can be avoided by keeping it backed up at all times. Saving important data on just one drive is asking for trouble.
