I'm currently using a AMD A10 APU 5700 CPU and a bad GPU so I think of buying a Geforce GTX 780 so I can play Cod Ghosts on ultra settings. But the question is if I can play on ultra settings and get 80-90+ frame rate. Or do I need to buy a new CPU?

If you are looking in the used/refurbished market, go ahead and try any 7900 series radeon cards, or if you use nvidia, try a gtx 460. What is your current system stats? If your cpu is slow and you have low memory, you will need to upgrade first so you do not bottleneck.

Per this reference:

http://www.cpu-world.com/info/AMD/Recommended_graphics_cards_for_AMD_dual-graphics.html

The cards you can crossfire with your APU are:

Radeon HD 6670 (* Discrete PCIe graphics card) <- THIS ONE
Radeon HD 7670 (* Mobile chipset in laptops only)
Radeon HD 7670A (* Mobile chipset in laptops only)

Newegg has several 6670's here in the states in the $65.00-$125.00 range. That's 40-77 british standard pounds. It will give you a nice improvement in performance. It won't be as fast as a high end discrete GPU. But it will drive most modern games on High at 1080p fairly well, especially if you have FAST RAM to support the APU (2133 or 2400 if your board supports it)

If you opt to forego the APU Dual Graphics/crossfire and get a better discrete GPU, I would also get an aftermarket cooler and overclock your CPU to better support the new GPU. You will need to go FSB/HT OC sine the 5700 has a locked multi.

Here's a nice Tom's article on overclocking a similar APU:
