I have a Precision 470 Dell tower, with a ATI Rage XL graphics card and a Nvidia GeForce 8400 GS card. I am trying to set up two DELL SE197FP Monitors to run using each of these cards. This is an exercise in computer modifications, so the possibility of it being impossible is a valid answer. If it can be done, I want to know how and what will be needed.

I don't think you can run an ATI and Nvidia card at the same time (I could be wrong and it may depend on what OS you are using). Also if you simply want two monitors the GeForce 8400 will do it ( I'm using that card right now). If you are looking for better performance try using the onboard video (which should be NVidia chips) and the 8400 at the same time (very tiny bit better in some instances, not always). Have a look at this thread http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/320274-33-nvidia-comp.... Might answer some questions for you ;)

Not with those two cards, I don't even think you can run those on the same motherboard. I remember back then you needed an nforce board to run sli nVidia cards. I doubt Mr. Dell went through the trouble of putting a decent motherboard into that PC, so I doubt it could even handle two of the same video cards from the same manufacturer.

Thanks for the help guys! I'm having trouble connecting the two monitors to the Geforce, but if it's possible I'll get it working. Is the Rage good for anything but scrap?

Not good for anything but an emergency backup, but since mobos either have onboard video or cpu integrated video, no use at all. Maybe e-bay it for a couple bucks :)
