Windows Tile is black for desktop

For my desktop Windows 8 tile, it is black now and does not show what was on my wallpaper for the desktop.

How can I get that association back again?

never happened to me, but try restarting your pc. By the way, if you want the real start button back and if you want to boot straight to the desktop when you log on, all like in Windows 7, install Classic Shell for free.
