RAM mixing amounts

I currently have 4gb of ddr3 1333mhz ram installed in my ga78lmt, and I am adding a 3rd 1280x1024 monitor to my system. I would like to upgrade the ram, but an extra 4gb is a bit expensive in the uk. Could I add an extra 2gb to give me a total of 6gb, or do the ram modules have to be the same?

I don't know if this would make any difference but I have a phenom ii x4 965BE and a sapphire hd 7850

You could do that, but I'd strongly recommend you wait a bit until you have enough for 4GB.

It may or may not work, you just have to try it yourself.
I am running 2 4gb sticks and 2 2gb sticks and haven't encountered a single problem yet.

How much do you want to spend on it? You can get 2x4GB 1600 sticks for £50.

well, I went ahead with the 3rd monitor, and I still get fantastic framerates at 3840 x 1024 with only 4gb or RAM
