Hi all, I'd like some advice on choosing a new GPU for triple monitor gaming. I'm currently looking at 770/280X to 780/290. Please see below for details:

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: within two to three weeks preferrably (25 Nov-mid Dec)
BUDGET RANGE: CAD (~USD) 500$, preferably after taxes and shipping...see below

USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Gaming. I play mostly simulators/strategy (CiM2, Civ5, Might&Magic: Heroes, Anno2070) and other driving games (DiRT, ETS2, OMSI).

CURRENT GPU AND POWER SUPPLY: iGPU (formerly ASUS/MSI HD 7850 2GB co-operative/crossfire) and Seasonic X-560

OTHER RELEVANT SYSTEM SPECS:
-i5 2500k OC @ 4500 mHz
-ASRock Z68 Gen3 (Fatal1ty)
-G.Skill Sniper 8 GB DDR3 1600
-Patriot Pyro SE 128 GB Operating SSD
-Samsung 330 256 GB Steam/Games SSD

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: ncix.ca, newegg.ca
COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: Canada (BC)

PARTS PREFERENCES: none

OVERCLOCKING: Yes / Maybe
SLI OR CROSSFIRE: No / Maybe

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 5760x1080, 1920x1080

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:

---> I like to play these across three screens with medium-higher details with playable framerates. However, the 7850s I had more often than not couldn't handle it (I bought before I knew I was ever going to have three screens) so I sold them and am looking for a suitable upgrade. I was getting an average between 20 and 35 fps depending on the game and the area which was detracting from the experience.

For what I want to be able to do, I figure I will need at least a 770/280X/7970 level of performance. I am also aware than depending on the game I will need to turn down some settings and I'm okay with that. I would just like a more playable experience that is a little more consistent.

What I would like to know from you fellow readers as information is harder to come by on this is, which card(s) would you recommend for triple monitor gaming for the best experience? I do not plan on SLi'ing or Crossfiring at all/near future as most of the games I play do not take advantage of the other card.

My largest fear in selecting a card is getting one that won't choke on all the extra pixels from a tiple monitor setup. Hence why I'm considering the 280X, 780, and 290 as well/more than a 770.

My budget is around 500 maximum (if a 780 is worth the extra) otherwise 400 or so for the next one down (290). anything above a 780 is out of my price range.

Please and thank you, what are your thoughts??

290 is the one to go for if you can stand it being 95C leafblower, personally would just get the 780 or wait for an aftermarket 290. Crossfire/SLI a 'maybe' will become a 'certainly not' if you go with AMD, the frame pacing drivers don't work when in multi monitor. Certainly wouldn't go with anything slower than those with what you are doing.

thanks, that's what I was leaning towards but it's really nice to have input when parting with that much money.
I was thinking to wait for the 290 partner boards to show up if I can as that seems promising. the 780 I'd buy in an instant if it wasn't 100$ more than the 290...
