I have a nvidia 630gt graphics card ive bought for a new build. my old pc needed a boost so i tried installing it there until i can build my new pc. It doesnt work properly and i dont know why. it fits in the pcie x16 slot and everything seems ok (i have a picture) except when i downloaded the drivers for it they saying motherboard incompatable and device manager isnt recognising it either. The only thing im unsure of is the pcie x16 version may be holding me back? Dont know how to tell which version it is but im assuming its v1 as motherboard is from a 2007 hp pav a6001.uk . Can somebody tell me if im wasting my time trying or am i being a complete noob and doing something wrong-missing something?

Yeah sorry it is "complete noob" . Simple google for your HP (http://h20566.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/kb/docDisplay/?sp4ts.oid=3376909&spf_p.tpst=kbDocDisplay&spf_p.prp_kbDocDisplay=wsrp-navigationalState%3DdocId%253Demr_na-c00968199-14%257CdocLocale%253D%257CcalledBy%253D&javax.portlet.begCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken&javax.portlet.endCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken) says "1 PCI Express x16 slot for graphics card 1 PCI Express x1 slots". Googling the video card (http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gt-630/specifications) shows "Bus Support PCI Express 2.0 x 16" .

If you have a computer more then 4 years old there is no CURRENT hardware that will work with it. It is different tech, and your was built in 2007 which in a few weeks would make it 7 years OLD.
