So I just bought this graphics card, seems like I have it installed correctly, but when I turn on my computer it doesn't show up.

The fan on it is spinning so it has power.

I have my hdmi cord plugged into it going to my tv (which I use as my monitor) but no display comes up. So I plugged my old monitor into the VGA slot on the motherboard and when I boot up the computer and check to see if the graphics card is even recognized, there is nothing there.

I tried running the install disk that came with it, nothing.

I have the 6 pin one connected, but the 8 pin one with the two white plastic plugs at the ends I don't see where to plug those into? (The white parts) the cables seem too short to do anything with?

And yes my PSU is a HX650w corsair professional series

...you get video through your motherboard? Well that's your problem.

Go into your bios during POST and find the graphics options - change it from onboard to PCIe.

Well I didn't before, I plugged it in there because this card doesn't have a VGA port it only has the DVI port and I don't have an adapter on hand. I just wanted to see if the card was even showing up,

Yeah, I got it... but I'm saying that when you plug it into the motherboard, you get video, right? You aren't supposed to get that - which means your motherboard is defaulting to onboard video rather than pcie video.

Your PSU should have came with two 6+2 pin connectors.

It's the two cable at the top.

Otherwise you'll have to connect the "two white plastic plugs" to PSU-Molex cables (the two small cables in the middle)

edit: It's normal for the BIOS to default to onboard video. Because obviously there is no monitor attached to the graphics card.

Ok so i went and rooted through my computer stuff and I found a six pin connector to plug into the PSU with two 6+2 pin connectors on the other end for the graphics card!

So I have that all plugged in now. Gonna give it a try.
