I have a gigabyte 970a-ud3 and it claims to have 108bd snr audio but I have yet to find out what actual "sound card" that the onboard audio uses. I have read that on most mid range and low end motherboards the actual snr is way below what they advertise. I just wanted to know if someone would know if getting a xonar dsx would be of any improvement over my onboard audio. I have the audio technica ath-m50 headphones so i know they would benefit from having a better sound card. I am getting better speakers in the coming months but I just bought a quick 40$ 2.1 cyber acoustics CA-3098 speakers and they are ok but the bass is wonky with them and I don't know if that's the sound or the speakers either yet. anyways I hope someone can help me.

thanks man i didn't think to look there! but yea I thought most people would say its up to me I mean most reviews of the asus xonar cards say they are all better than onboard audio of any kind in lower ends mobos.
