Hi all and thanks for reading

i have this pretty old desktop perhaps 4-5 years old but i do not want to throw it away of course because it still works goood i just want to build on top of it

it has a athlon x2 2.80ghz cpu

ddr3 4gig ram

and i want to include a amd radeon hd 7850 video card do you think on decent graphics that this would let bf4 run decently or the processor might have to get upgraded?

that's the absolute minimum requirement for CPU...which means it will run on very low settings, and even then with low fps, should play most games for 2011 and earlier pretty easy though, especially if you got the GPU, but I think your CPU will be bottlenecked with a 7850 not sure though

kevin your better off seeing if your local libary or senior center or ymca or scouts could use the pc and donate it and take a tax credit for the donation. the newer cpu are faster then your old one and building a newer rig will cost more money but it wont kill the bank.

wells generally that would sound great but it not exactly my is a cousins but he does not have the money to build a 500$ computer that will last very long

but i just want to do is switching to a phenom x2 quad core 3ghz black edition and including a video card would it be good i am trying to just save money for him untill he has a better job

Eh, your CPU is going to bottleneck a x2 280. It pretty much means the processor isn't fast enough for the GPU so it is holding it back, kinda like a bottle, the neck is holding all the water from coming out quickly. So yes, you would need to upgrade your CPU. The best GPU you could get with a x2 280 would probably be a Radeon HD 7750 or 7770 (GeForce GTX 650 ti). The 7750 can run BF4 on Ultra at around 12-20FPS the 7770/650ti can get about 25-35 on Ultra.

To get rid of the bottlenecking you will need to upgrade your CPU to a Phenom II x4 9xx. And you should get 4Gb more ram. And then you could game decently.
