r290 vs gtx770 what to buy

Performance vs Tempature

Should I go with 770 or 290 I am leaning towards GTX 770-- even though I want 290 performance

Apparently the gtx 770 runs at 77 celcius and the r290 runs at 95 celcius the hottest card on the list the TITAN runs at 81--- I do not want to put my precious i7-4770k next to a (nearly) boiling hot GPU---- fuck that--- and I could never crossfire the 290 because it would be even HOTTEr times 2---- Also with a custom cooler the r290 will cost me about 460 dollars--- and for 200 more than that (plus new psu) I could have SLI GTX 770 which would dominate ALL--

I understand. Well apart from being better at SLI and 3D, the GTX 770 is also a better choice if you do video streaming, recording, encoding, or intend to get a Gsync monitor. You will probably get the free bundled games as well, depending where you buy it from.

When the custom 290 come out they might not necessarily cost a lot more than they currently are. Because they have to be priced attractively enough to continue attracting buyers when a lot of 290 (the stock ones) have already been bought.

Actually the 290 comes with free battlefield 4--- and the gtx 770 comes with batman, assisns creed and splinter cell-- I already have the first two games on TORRENT--- they are useless to me---- battlefield 4 is very nice though------ Although I am still sticking with the 770------ do you have any advice on which 770 I should get---- I am also curious which 770 brands are compatible with mac 10.8 and 10.9 I already know about the 700 series compatibility-- but certain 700 cards work and some don't.........

Also is cyber monday or black friday better for online shopping???

I don't know about specific brands or models compatibility with Mac.

Mac aside, I would probably only get an Nvidia card from EVGA or Asus for their better reputation.

You might find a few discounts on those special shopping occasions, but don't expect many items of a specific category (in your case, GTX 770 or 290) to be on sale.
