Toshiba satellite L755 laptop

My screen went black. I tested it with external monitor and it worked. I assumed it was the screen so I replaced it. It still doesn't work. I reinstalled the original screen and noticed a faint image. So now I think it's the backlight. But should replacing the screen have resolved the backlight issue? Does this mean its the mother board which I fear!?!

Sounds like it could be the invertor that needs replacing or faulty back light. I doubt it is the motherbaord since it works fine with an external monitor.

Silly question, but wouldn't the backlight issue have been resolved since the whole screen was replaced? Isn't it part of the screen/LCD assembly?

That's true , but even new parts can sometimes arrive faulty. I believe its the invertor that's causing the problem.
