When using my wireless internet, my wireless internet gets disconnected. I went to my settings and my computer says there is another wireless signal detected, it seems to be an unusualy strong signal. While the second signal is broadcasting, i can not get on the internet.it is broadcasting in what seems to be very sporadic intervals. I have a university, and a cell phone tower a couple blocks away. How do i find out where the second signal is coming from?, or is there anyone who knows how i go about resolving this issue?. My wireless provider knows about the problem, but they don't seem motivated to fix it, or offer a solution. I have battled this for several years, am on my third wireless provider, and am so tired of this issue

More information, like your wireless provider, your router model and what devices you connect (laptop/phone/both) would help.

It could be any nearby network -- change your wireless radio channel to see if that helps. Download and run the free wireless analyzer inSSIDer from HERE to determine what radio channels are the most crowded. Look under the network tab for a list of all networks with signal strength and channel. Look for the least signals, especially strong ones for channels 1, 6, and 11.

Other strong interference comes from microwave ovens, wireless phones on 2.4GHz, wireless speakers, etc.

If you cannot find a usable channel due to too many other networks you should consider using the 5GHz frequency if your devices support it, but you may need a new router.
