I want to buy a cheap rig for the holidays that can play newer games, like planetside 2 and bf4. I was wondering if it would be fine to work with the A10 CPU/GPU combo.
What kind of FPS performance can I get? Is this a waste of time? I want to upgrade it with a decent graphics card in the near future. Is this even possible to upgrade with an external GPU and bypass or partner with the Radeon? And will i be ever be able to play modern games on high settings?
If not, any recommendations for a replacement setup? CPU/GPU/mobo under $300

Thanks

Kind of hard to do all of that with a $300 dollar budget; something has to suffer. You may not like the motherboard, but it'll work.

The A10 5800k/6800k can handle 720p gaming by itself when setup properly. It will NOT handle 1080p though. You CAN play some games on lower settings on 1080p, but don't expect too much. You can add a HD 6670 and run dual graphics, and at best, it will run some games at mid settings on 1080p, but this setup doesn't usually work out very well. Yes you can add any stronger video card, and it will automatically disable the integrated graphics.

Why do you ask? Do you already have an A10? What motherboard?
