Typically a good UPS like APC will change over from mains to battery and vice versa in 2ms(milliseconds). During these 2ms, your PC will not recieve power and it is upto your PSU to maintain the power. Some of the local brands of UPS may changeover a bit slower typically atleast 8ms.
Now for the psu, typically most psu will have a hold time of 8ms or more, but this will also depend on your power consumption, if you consume more power, your hold time will be less. You need to ensure that your UPS can changeover faster than what your PSU can hold.

In your case, it looks like you have a under powered psu for the graphics card that you have, that is why when playing games your hold time decreases and your pc restarts. You can solve this by upgrading your PSU to atleast 750 watts or higher.
