Should I buy this video card for my old system?

Hello all!

I am thinking of upgrading my old BFG Tech GeForce GTS 250 video card to EVGA 01G-P4-2650-KR GeForce GTX 650. Here's a link to the video card I want to buy for $116.99 http://

My question is, since my system is pretty old (2 years to be exact). While the CPU might be 5 years or older. Is it worth upgrading my GPU card to the GTX 650? Or would my old CPU system be bottlenecking the new video card? (I notice my motherboard only has PCI Express 1.0 x16 slot while the new video card uses the PCI Express 3.0 x16)

Reason I am asking for a new video card because I want to play Total War: Rome 2 on full graphics settings with the ultra size army, and right now I am on the lowest settings and still getting slow performance.

Any help on this would be much appreciated. Thank you for your time.

My current system is as follow:

Operation System: Windows 7 (OEM) 64-bit

Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Quad-Core Processor 2.40 GHz
Details of the processor link below

Video Card: BFG Tech GeForce GTS 250
Details of the video card link below

RAM: 8GB of RAM (2x4GB G.Skill Ripjaws Series 240-Pin DDR3)
Details of the RAM link below
http://

Power Supply: Cooler Master Silent Pro Gold - 800W
Details of the power supply link below
http://

Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-G41MT USB3 LGA 775 Intel G41 Motherboard
Details of the motherboard link below

Hard Drive: 1.5 TB hard drive

P.S. I would love to upgrade my motherboard and CPU, but it would cost me too much money, since I have to purchase another Windows 7 OEM for 80 bucks again ><

You won't be able to play ROME II on max settings with those specs

The game is more CPU demanding than GPU.

Nevertheless, GTX650 will fit well in that setup, but not good enough for ROME II on max settings. Maybe you should save money and get new MB+CPU+GPU
