Hi,

I have the Gigabyte X79-UD7 and I upgraded to the F12 BIOS, and now my system will not boot at all. It goes through all the startup sequence looking at the LED display, and it freezes on error code "0E". I don't even see the gigabyte splash on my monitor. I tried resetting the CMOS by pressing the button on the back of the mobo, and shorting the pins and no luck.

It so seems I may need to RMA my mobo.

Has this happened to anyone before?

I'm using a Sandy Bridge-E 3930k.

Thanks.

Solution
Pull the Bios battery. disconnect the power on the power supply. Hold in your power button for about 20 odd seconds and then leave the system like that for about 10 to 20 minutes. Then just put everything back and try and boot. If your motherboard has a dual bios then it should revert to the backup bios

Can you confirm this is the right method for gigabyte x79 boards?

Replying just in case anyone else runs into the same problem:

I own an X79 UD7 and there's a BIOS toggle switch right in the IO panel beside the PS/2 keyboard port. Just push the button and the board will switch from the main to the backup BIOS or vice versa. No need to mess with stuff trying to artificially trigger the backup mode.

Just look for this button and push it!
