Please provide your specs next time in your post, it helps us help you :)

However, just by having 1 stick being 4GB and another being 2GB, you are asking for trouble. And likely to be different RAM manus with different timers.. etc. When upgrading RAM you need to upgrade in pairs.. or get the same 2GB RAM stick that was on your rig to begin with. Check your motherboard manual to ensure you aren't exceeding the maximum capabilities of RAM on your mobo. They also list the Memory Support for your motherboard which shows what the manufacturer tested and knows 100% what RAM sticks are compatible with your motherboard.

For short term solutions.. take out the 2GB stick and replace it with the 4GB you purchased (if compatible) and test your PC to ensure 100% functionality. If it works then great. Your next step is to check your motherboard manual (google it) and make sure the 4GB stick you purchased matches the specifications of the memory your motherboard can handle. Then buy another 4GB (the same one) only if your motherboard can take a maximum memory support of 8GB.

Hope this helps!
