My Windows 7 64 bit system on Toshiba harddisk has 3 drives ( C and D primary ; E logical partitioned). Recently i couldn't load and copy some folders from E drive. On trying to copy them, a clicking sound is heard. So I formatted and wiped the whole E drive using disk management and ccleaner. But chkdsk still stops at 25%. Should I replace my harddisk? OR Leaving the E partition as unused space is fine and healthy?
Please reply soon.
Sorry for my poor english

Solution
Thank u.
can i segment E drive to multiple partitions such that the bad sectors lie outside as unused space?
Are there any tools to do this?

Who is the manufacturer of the drive? WD, Seagate, Hitachi, et.al. have drive diagnostic tools such as Seagate's SeaTools for Windows: http://www.seagate.com/support/downloads/item/seatools-win-master/
WD has Data Lifeguard for Windows: http://support.wdc.com/product/download.asp?groupid=613&sid=3&lang=en
I suggest downloading and running one of these free tools to better diagnose your problem.

Is the drive still in warranty?
